Youth Programs

The NAUW-SPB Branch is committed to supporting youth in the Greater Suburban Philadelphia area. Through our Mentoring Program and Annual Girls Conference we partner with community organizations to expose young women to various career options, provide college readiness workshops, and offer networking and skill-building opportunities. 

 

2024 Girls Conference Information

The mission of the Our Girls Soar Leadership Conference is to inspire and empower all girls of color as confident leaders of their own futures. The conference is day filled with workshops, seminars, and panel discussions focused on leadership, career, HBCU's, wellness, and empowerment.

Health Promotion 

The NAUW-SPB Branch is committed to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors. Additionally, the branch publishes a monthly newsletter with information to support a healthy lifestyle and bring awareness to health concerns impacting the African-American communities in Suburban Philadelphia.

Scholarship 

Annually NAUW-SPB hosts the African American History Month Oratorical Competition for high school students to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for issues impacting women and communities of color, and to encourage students to experience the transformative power of language and written expression. ​

​

Additionally, we offer several scholarships to graduating high school students who demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to community service.

Literacy Program

The NAUW-SPB Branch is committed to facilitate and develop tutorial and literacy activities designed to close the achievement gap for children struggling with reading and math. 

​

Throughout the year branch members volunteer to read at various schools to host literacy events.
